Broadband Internet Access
At The Library
Broadband Internet access is available for users of laptop computers
and other personal devices at the following library locations:
If your personal laptop has a web browser you
can connect to the internet using either:
- Plug-In
- All Study rooms have data ports. Study rooms are located on
the second, third and fourth floors of the Central Library and may
be used by request on a first-come basis.
- Selected computer tables have data ports. Ask at the desk.
A PC Ethernet/Network Card
and a Category 5, RJ45 patch cable are required.
- Wireless (Wi/Fi)
- An 802.11b compliant wireless
network PC card is required.
Define the Service Set Identifier
(SSID) in your wireless configuration software as: MSCPLIC
Network cards and patch cables are available at
most computer retailers. The Library does not provide these accessories.
Study rooms and most study tables have electrical outlets.
- When?
- Anytime the broadband-networked library you choose is open.
- Cost?
- It's free! Access is provided by Time Warner Cable as a public
service.
- Printing?
- You cannot print directly from your personal computer, but you
can save to disk and then use a library computer and the library
debit card printing system.
- Blocked Sites?
- The study room/wireless network uses the same filtering software
as library computers, so some sites will be blocked based on content.
- Problem?
- Fill out a HELP DESK request form. A library employee will contact
you as time permits.
