Tea Time Program scheduled at the East Shelby Branch
Mary Beth Bryce, owner of My Cup of Tea an online specialty
store, brews a tea etiquette and history lesson at the East Shelby
Branch, 7200 E. Shelby Drive, on Saturday, January 23 at 3 p.m. Bryce
extols the leaf-elixir’s virtues to moms and girls 10 years and
older. Boys are not excluded though. Bryce insists the program
isn’t “frilly”; so, interested boys can attend,
too.
Expect to learn the protocol of tea parties: how to host, guest
responsibilities, what to wear etc. Bryce also delves into the virtues
and folklore surrounding the different varieties. “South African
Roobios tea is touted as a cure-all,” Bryce laughs. She says
she’s heard claims of Roobios, also called Red Tea, being used as
a remedy for skin ailments and as an anti-aging potion.
There’s one claim Bryce defends assuredly, “A tea
experience is very different from coffee.” Bryce alludes to the
calming and soothing qualities of tea.
There’s no charge to attend. But, you do have to register and
space is limited. Call 751-7360 to register.
