Most of the sites themselves have disclaimers stating that laws are constantly changing and that only a lawyer can provide specific advice on which you can depend. 

Extensive legal information is found in the sites, and much of it is geared to the lay person, but personal advice from a lawyer may be necessary for any one doing legal research.



ABA Lawyer Referral Services
From the American Bar Association, information on various legal topics is provided, as well as links to helpful legal resources.

All Law – Your Internet Legal Gateway
Many links to sites providing information about different legal topics, links to federal, state, and international law sites, information on lawyers, and much more is found here.

Famous Trials
Information on some of the most famous trials in history, including the Sacco-Vanzetti trial, the Loeb-Leopold trial, the Scottsboro Boys trial, and more.

FindLaw West Legal Directory
Extensive site that provides links to resources in over 30 areas of the law, as well as links to legal associations, law codes, court decisions, legal directories, legal news, and
more.

Guide to Law Online  
Prepared by the U.S. Law Library of Congress Public Services Division, this is an annotated compendium of Internet links to sources of information on the law. Most of the sites provide full-texts of laws, court decisions, and regulations, as well as commentaries from legal experts.

Internet Legal Resource Guide
A categorized index of more than 4000 select legal web sites. Links to law codes and court decisions, to sites containing information about law schools, to ones providing information about lawyers and law firms, to a legal forms archive, and to much more are found here.

Introduction to the United States Legal System
The 'Lectric Law Library presents basic information, the make-up of the United States Legal System and how the Legal System works.

FindLaw West Legal Directory  
A wealth of legal information is found here on a site created by the West Group. It is an extensive database of legal materials covering over 400 legal topics. Much helpful legal information, for legal consumers, is found here.
