LINC/2-1-1 and United Way of the Mid-South have information resources that may help you weather the economic storm.
United Way of the Mid-South has been coordinating resources for people in our area since ____. Currently funding over ____ agencies in ____ counties in TN, AR and MS, United Way helps ensure that agencies use resources wisely to help those in need. One of the resources suported by United Ways is 2-1-1 -- the toll-free telephone number to call to find out about area social services.
In the Memphis area, LINC/2-1-1, a department of the Memphis Public Library & Information Center, keeps up with area services through its database of over 1600 social service organiztions, government agencies, faith-based groups, support groups and professional and special interest organizations. Database listngs cover six counties in west TN, four counties in north MS, and one county in east AR, as well as statewide and national listings.
Specially trained, experienced Library staff at LINC/2-1-1 answer the 2-1-1 telephones, searching for needed inforamtion and resources for callers. The LINC/2-1-1 call center is open 70 hours a week: Mon - Thur 9 AM - 9 PM, Fri - Sat 9 Am - 6 PM, Sun 1 - 5 PM. After-hours callers may leave a message on the voicemail,. which will be returned the following day. The Memphis Public Library & Informaton Center is a service of the City of Memphis, Dirivison of Public Services and Neighborhoods.
